Hi, I'm Molly. As a current last-semester senior with no idea what graduation will bring, I am surprisingly excited about where my life will take me in the next 12 months. After a study abroad trip to London last spring, I fell in love with the city: its clean streets, the British accents, and the fish 'n chips. I am hoping to move there after graduation if my parents and older sister Caraline won't hate me too much for moving 3,000 miles away. I am a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity which has been a great social and service experience the past four years. When people ask me what I want for the future, my response is pretty simple: I want to be happy.

I stumbled upon the idea of journalism completely by chance. I've always loved writing, but I had never heard of a college major called "writing" so I dismissed it as just one of my hobbies. Even so I was still fascinated by people; I could sit for hours and try to figure out someone's entire life story without them saying a word to me. This proved to be difficult because there was no way to see if I was right or wrong. So from an early age I began questioning people about their lives. It was always simple questions, so I would seem like a nosy little kid, but people always opened up to me and told great stories. When I was in middle school, one of my teachers said "Phenola you would make a great journalist one day."

To join Penn State's student newspaper, you have to try out. In the first phase, you write a news story from a set of facts laid out on a sheet.
For me, scribbling with growing excitement into my bluebook, it fell together. It felt amazing. It was like I was creating something alive, something living and breathing, something with finality and truth. I finished first and left.
And walking down College Ave., exhilaration in every step I took, I knew this was how I wanted to spend my life.
