Stephanie Raposo
Major: Journalism/Print
Year: Senior
Stephanie Raposo decided to attend Penn State University because it is one of the few institutions she found with a College of Communications. On her visit she felt like it was everything she ever imagined in a university. In addition, she wanted to leave her comfort zone of a big city and adapt to a new environment. Stephanie is glad she took a chance, drove four and half hours away from her home in the Bronx, N.Y. and is now on her way to a career in print-journalism. She is a first-generation soon to be college graduate.
After she receives her diploma in May, Stephanie is has earned the opportunity of a lifetime. Fresh out of college she will be working for The Wall Street Journal's Personal Journal as an intern in New York City. This is a dream come true for Stephanie and she will spend the months ahead preparing to be among the nation's smartest and wittiest writers.
During her time at Penn State Stephanie wrote columns for the university's official student publication, The Daily Collegian, on college life and current events. She continued her writing through various diversity newsletters such as The Drum and Cultural Expressions. Stephanie also practiced her magazine skills as a writer and editor for the Penn State Life and Style magazine Valley. Out of all of her experiences heightening her passion for writing, Stephanie's favorite has been interning and freelancing for The Centre Daily Times. She loves being in a newsroom, telling people's stories and helping readers become more knowledgeable.
Stephanie looks forward to gaining more experience in her most beloved passion: writing.
