Kristina Cosma
Major: Journalism/Print
Year: Senior
Kristina Cosma was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She first became interested in journalism while attending Rutherford High School. It was there that she learned the basic components of putting together a news story in a journalism class.
Cosma decided to attend the Pennsylvania State University in the fall of 2005 because of its new and different environment and journalism program. She is now a senior majoring in print journalism, expecting to graduate in May 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts degree.
During the spring semester of her junior year, Cosma was an editorial intern at Town&Gown Magazine in State College, PA. She was responsible for writing content for the monthly magazine as well as for various supplemental publications. She gained valuable experience in fact-checking, interviewing sources and organizing feature stories.
Cosma is currently a staff writer for Penn State's multicultural newsletter, Cultural Expressions, which is published throughout the school year. She is also a communications intern for Penn State's Undergraduate Admissions office. She is responsible for writing content for the admissions website for prospective and incoming students in order to inform and educate them on life at Penn State. Cosma is also a member of Penn State's Association of Journalists for Diversity and the National Association of Hispanic Journaliststs.
Upon graduating in May, Cosma hopes to secure a full-time job in print journalism.
