Adam Clair
Major: Journalism/Print
Year: Senior
The bulk of Adam Clair's journalism experience was gained as a reporter for the Daily Collegian, where he has served as a music reporter and an investigative reporter and currently serves as a columnist, but he has also freelanced for several online and music magazines as well as some newspapers. In addition, he has worked as a fact-checker for Philadelphia Weekly and an editor for UWire.
Currently, he is honing his fledgling multimedia skills to make himself a more versatile asset to the evolving journalism world. Merely being a good writer is no longer enough; a good journalist must be able to handle internet, audio and video content with equal aplomb.
Regardless of medium, though, Adam just wants to help others tell their stories. An artist at heart, he has aspirations to write novels at some point, but before he is ready to do that, he seeks to gather and spread the stories of others, be it through newspaper articles, web pieces or even long-form non-fiction, like the project he is currently undertaking: a book about the Elephant Six Recording Company, the legendary Athens, Georgia, musicians collective.
To be an artist requires some degree of narcissism, the ability to say "The ideas I have need to be told to others." Adam is not sure has this yet, though he is sure he will someday. For the time being, he thirsts for the ideas of those he covers in his articles, and it is this inquisitive spirit that drives his journalistic pursuits.
