Year: Senior

Arianna discovered her love for journalism in high school after completing an internship at The Baltimore Sun. She plans to pursue a career in the print journalism and also has an interest in the industry of public and media relations. Ultimately, she aspires to become the Editor-in-Chief of a major publication as well as a published author.

Arianna was recently selected as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Copy Editing Intern for the Summer of 2009. She was placed at the San Francisco Chronicle and will begin the internship in June after a two-week training program at the University of Texas at Austin.

At Penn State, Arianna is very active. In Spring 2009, she will participate in an International Reporting course that will travel to Mexico City. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Valley Magazine, Penn State's life & style magazine for women. She is also currently the Editor-in-Chief of Cultural Expressions, a monthly newsletter produced by the Penn State Association of Journalists for Diversity. As an intern with Penn State's Office of International Programs, Arianna writes and edits articles for the office's monthly magazine The International Mosaic as well as the office's weekly student services newsletter that is distributed to all international students. As a reporter with The Daily Collegian, Penn State's award-winning daily newspaper, Arianna worked as an Arts Enterprise Reporter.

She currently serves as the President of the Delta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African-American college women.

Arianna's pride in her Puerto Rican and African-American heritage allows her to bring a unique perspective to the table in all of her endeavors. In her free time, Arianna enjoys reading and writing, specifically creative writing and poetry. She also enjoys traveling, shopping, and music as well as spending time with her family, friends, and sorority sisters.
