State health officials still encouraging flu vaccination

As the H1N1 virus recedes from the limelight, the State Health Department is pushing harder for people to get vaccinated. "We're very concerned people are complacent," said Stacy Kriedeman, a health department spokeswoman. "We do anticipate [swine flu] to come back."

Started in 1996 as an alcohol-free alternative for student entertainment, Penn State’s LateNight program is looking to recharge and boost attendance in the midst of the university’s efforts to curb excessive drinking by students. LateNight provides activities that include concerts, recently released movies, games, crafts and inexpensive food.

Christian Ragland, a junior studying political science and the newly elected student body president at Penn State University, said he is excited to start working with State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham and the borough.
